PAI - Professorial Advancement Initiative
Postdocs in the STEM fields are invited to participate in the Big Ten Academic Alliance Professorial Advancement Initiative
(PAI) Program, a multi-campus network of mentors focused on professional development opportunities that are highly relevant and effective.
The PAI program will provide selected postdoctoral scholars with mentoring and targeted professional development activities, as well as
opportunities to network with postdoctoral scholars and faculty from participating Big Ten Academic Alliance institutions.
Participation in the PAI includes:
- Active engagement with discipline-specific mentors from your home campus and other Big Ten Academic Alliance campuses.
Virtual and in-person professional development experiences covering topics such as:
- Preparation for a faculty role—grant writing, starting a lab, promotion and tenure process, etc.
- Financial support for travel to regional/national conferences for discipline-specific professional development
- Interview preparation—preparing for each aspect of the interview process—communication, department interviews, job talks, and the like.
The Big Ten Academic Alliance PAI program invites underrepresented minority STEM postdocs who are US citizens to register for the program.
